Where Love Blooms/Blue As The Sky

J. Morgan writes an engaging story about love, life, and fur with "Where Love Blooms," Book One of the Southern Wherewolf Chronicles. Set in the heart of Louisiana, the story is told by Madison Lee, a southern debutante. While on a tour of Europe, Madison meets the enigmatic Nicholi Grant. After a night of passion with Nicholi, Madison is transformed into a werewolf. She goes back to Louisiana, alone, to deal with the fallout from her newfound hairy condition.
Complications arise when Nicholi meets up with Madison a year later. The family business is struggling and Nicholi offers to become an investor. Madison's father welcomes Nicholi's fresh perspective, but Madison isn't so sure she should trust Nicholi; especially when Justin Maxwell shows up, a member of the Hunters of Alegeon, a group who has vowed to hunt down werewolves and kill them. After a hair raising chase in Madison's mustang, "Ms. Stang," Justin lets Nicholi go while he regroups. Nicholi enlists the help of fellow wolf, Jonas. While Madison introduces Nicholi to southern life, bacon, and grits, Maxwell plots the ultimate revenge. Can Nicholi win Madison's heart despite his year's absence and Maxwell's pursuit?
Morgan's writing style is engaging. He writes in a fresh, humorous, first person perspective through Madison's point of view. The plot flows well, and I enjoyed the fast pace of the "Ms. Stang" chase. The story uses a good economy of words to paint Madison's world. Morgan is "spot on" in capturing the authentic feel of the south, including the culture, accents, and mannerisms.
Morgan's characters are rich and engaging. Madison may initially appear more concerned about her hairy condition, how to hide it, and her Nair supply, but behind those concerns is a woman - a living breathing woman with a heart of gold. Madison cares about her father's company and the community. She wants only the best for the ones around her. When Jonas appears, he adds another layer to her characterization. He implies that one of her parents is also werewolf. Madison is thus given the challenge of unlocking her family's heritage.
Nicholi is the dark, handsome, dangerous stranger. He embodies strength and vitality. His fierce loyalty to Madison is something every woman wishes for. Morgan's love scenes are tasteful and rewarding. There's an emotional as well as a physical connection made between Madison and Nicholi. "Where Love Blooms" is a fun, light-hearted read that will spark the reader's hunger for another bite.

Rich Fantasies...by Kimberly Lowe

Everyone has had some kind of fantasy of some gorgeous Billionaire falling in your lap (literally) then you're seen all over the word on magazine covers with him on top of you! Then he shows up at your door with a ring to save his reputation and then your left with this confliction of "I would never! Marriage is about love and with him I'll be divorced in a year!" or "Shut up other side! This is one hell of a ride!" but then he falls in love with you and carries you away...Ha-ha yeah right!
But it's fun to get lost in a good book playing on such a fantasy. With these next three novels you can do just that
Cross My Heart~ by Carly Phillips
A little while ago...three years actually, I received this book as a present from Harlequin. As the flake I sometimes can be I shoved it on the self and forgot about it. I have two kids, a cat, a husband, and a house to tend to, I'm lucky I know what day it is half the time. Anyway, once I found it, opened it and began reading I was completely amazed by this novel. This wonderful story sat unnoticed for years and is now one of my favorites!
A poor little girl entitled to a huge inheritance, but her uncle more then willing to take it from her. This story is captivating from chapter one. Faking her own death with the help of her first love, willing to leave everything behind, even the one boy she could ever trust.
But when she is forced to come home and reclaim everything she left; the money, her name...what she wasn't expecting was her childhood sweetheart to reclaim her. When, This was a really sweet story that left you feeling good about the overall outcome. You even feel bad for the bad guy. Good read, pick it up if you find it.
Silhouette's Desire
The Boss's Christmas Seduction~ by Yvonne Lindsay
I stumbled across this book in a little book store by my house and almost didn't get it. I'm glad I did, for this was a very good rags to riches story. Published in 2006, this story is about a girl who was raised by nuns though tries everything she could to have a normal life and make something of herself. And although she didn't have time for a sexy-as-hell millionaire, he found time for her. Nine months later he would have to make time for a little one as well.
Billionaire's Marriage Bargain~ by Leanne Banks
This was a wonderful story but a Greek billionaire making a bargain to marry a woman to get out of scandal. It sounded like the right thing to do, until he realizes what he got himself into. Falling in love was not apart of the plan.. It was awesome how she turns the game around. When you read this story you actually find yourself wishing this fantasy was yours.

Romance Book Review - Almost Forever by Linda Howard

Linda Howard has definitely made a name for herself with her romantic suspense novels, but back when she was writing category romances she wrote some rare gems. This review is taking a look at Almost Forever, originally published in 1986 by Silhouette.
I remember buying this book from the shelves when it was originally published and I still have it. It's falling apart now but I had a re-read of it recently and wanted to share my thoughts on this book.
This is a follow on from Sarah's Child, Max Conroy featured prominently in that book and left an impression on me, I was thrilled to see him get his own book.
Max is described as beautiful, lethal charm and is used to having his way with the women. He is always in control, never seriously looses his temper as his charm usually gets him what he wants.
Max works for Spencer-Nyle a company about to take over a smaller firm, but his boss wants more information, not wanting to pay over what they had to for the firm so sends Max out under cover to see what he can come up with.
Claire Westbrooke is the secretary to the CEO of this company and Max homes in on her for the information he needs. He is seriously attracted to Claire however and just wants to get the job out of the way so he can concentrate on charming her and winning her over. He knows she will be angry when he finds out who he really is but as usual he is counting on his charm to overcome that.
He underestimates the damage he does to Claire. Claire feels things deeply, though holds up a cool front to the outside world. She doesn't understand what Max sees in her at first, where as she is pretty she is not the stunning beauty that Max would usually take on. When she discovers Max's motives behind meeting her it seems clear what that attraction was.
The sheer intensity of Max's pursuit of Claire to win her back is moving, he can't charm his way out of this one. Claire's hurt over what he did is very real, you can understand her not wanting to have anything more to do with him.
This is a great emotional read, yes maybe a little dated, but I still get as much enjoyment out of this story today as I did originally. If you have an opportunity to get a copy of this book I highly recommend it as a classic Linda Howard read.

My Secret EBook Romance..by Lara L Aucamp

The thought of buying An Impolite Seduction, Her Lord and Master, or Mile High Mistress over the counter is enough to make even the bravest of us blush.
But the rise of eReaders has made the secret pleasure of indulging in steamy romances all the more attainable, offering the ability to download huge quantities of romantic fiction titles without anyone having to know. 'It was a bold move to publish our entire catalogue as eBooks in addition to paper versions, but it's paid off,' says Tim Cooper, director of direct and digital marketing at Mills & Boon. In September 2008, Mills & Boon became the first UK publisher to produce all its titles as eBooks simultaneously to publishing the paper versions. 'eBook sales have been higher than we had forecast - a real sign that eBooks are what our readers want, and they're here to stay,' explains Tim. According to Cooper, online sales were encouraged by the relatively low eBook prices that are about half the cost of many paperbacks.
More than 140,000 Mills & Boon stories were downloaded digitally last year, compared to 400,000 that were bought as paperbacks through Amazon. And US Supermarket Giant Tesco has reported a 57 percent rise in Mills & Boon eBook sales within the five months since the Sony Reader went on sale.
Mills & Boon has always been more popular with older readers, as many younger readers were often embarrassed to be seen reading one. But Tesco's own customer research revealed that younger fans (ages 30 to 42) are now indulging in the eBook versions of these books. 31 percent of correspondents also said that they prefer not being seen purchasing the print versions, because of it being associated with older readers.
Selling particularly well as eBooks are the titles in the Mills & Boon "Spice" category - which offer slightly more erotic literature than the average romance novel.
According to Hazel Powell, commercial manager for books at Tesco, "Some bashful customers prefer to use e-readers so they can access stories privately. However, there is no reason why reading Mills & Boon should have to be a guilty pleasure."
Ever since Mills & Boon were launched by entrepreneurs Gerald Mills and Charles Boon in 1908, millions of women have been entranced by this fantasy world of intrigue, danger, passion and romance. And the predictability that they offer is a very large part of the reason for their popularity. Smoking and one-night stands are not allowed. The hero is always tall and handsome. And the heroine is always attractive, never overweight, and often fragile and vulnerable.
This allowed the books to flourish during the war years when they were launched - when women needed to escape the dreariness of an era where both men and money were in short supply. And even though the world that women live in has changed a lot since then, everyone still needs a bit of escapism. Mills & Boon has managed to adapt and stay relevant, and is more popular than ever with more than 175 million copies sold each year, and a new Mills & Boon book sold every 5 seconds in the UK. They are available in 26 different languages and sold in 109 countries,
Working in partnership with Mills & Boon, New Holland Publishing has launched eBook Diva www.ebookdiva.comlast month - a South African eBook Store dedicated to the romance genre. The website offers users an online shop with over 1200 titles and an interactive romance writers' community, where romance fans and aspiring writers can share their work with other enthusiasts while protecting their own copyright.
And in order to get everyone reading Mills & Boon, eBook Diva is giving away 10 free eBooks. Go on, you know you want to. To try these out, visit http://ebookdiva.com/free-ebooks.php
